October is the month when everyone gets to hankering for the Turkey Dinner that the Club puts on as a fundraiser.  This year the dinner was on the 10th of October and you can bet your boots that Ivy was behind the serving table doling out peas and carrots to all the hungry folks who know that $7.00 for this meal is a real bargain!

The weather was perfect - sunny, bright, blue-skied, yellow-leafed autumn day - and we served 403 dinners before we ran out of pies.

Everyone loves our Story women's (or is it wom-a-n's) homemade pies. Sour Cream and Raisin, Lemon Merangue, Coconut Cream and Apple pies seem to be the favorites.  There's one I never heard of till I arrived here and that is a Vinegar pie.  It's a lot like a pecan pie and really easy to make.
