SPRING BLIZZARD OF MARCH 29-30, 2007

We can see by the number of visitors that our site is being watched by those of you interested in seeing what our recent Spring Blizzard looked like.

We are seeing it for the first time also, as we got stranded in Deadwood, SD due to closed highways and enjoyed an extended stay of 5 extra days.  (Yes, we did come back with more than we took.) Just our luck that the biggest snow since we moved here happened and we missed it!

But, thanks to our photomaniac friends we are now starting to receive some interesting photos that those of you who have visited our town will relate to.  Since not everyone is able to send the photos right this minute, we are going to present them as we get them.

We hear that the storm came in from the south about 7 hours earlier than predicted, beginning about 7 am on Wed the 28th.  The snow "really came down" and the winds howled even in downtown Story.  Gradually the direction shifted to the northwest and continued through the 29th as the storm stalled out right over the Big Horns.

Unofficial snowfall amounts have been reported to be anywhere from 29" to 60" depending on location.  Officially we saw the snow amount reported as 56" for Story.   Lots of much needed moisture was gifted on Story insuring that our wildflowers and grasses will indeed flourish!
