MOOSE ON THE LOOSE IN STORY
April 16, 2007

On April 5, 2007 Sharon Sullinger sent us photos of a visitor to her yard. (See Visitor)  It was a little bull (as I found out later from someone more expert in such matters) moose.  This was near Mountain Home Road.
The next reported sighting was on Ponderosa Drive where Mr. Moose visited several properties.
On April 5 Carol Metcalf spotted him on Lodore Avenue.   Over that weekend he was seen wandering around  that end of Story.
On April 9 he evidently decided on breakfast at the Waldorf A'Story and Piney Creek General Store, as many of us do...

It seems that Patty walked right by him on her way to open the store.  He stayed contentedly bedded down between the store and the house.

But, it turns out he was a little camera shy at that time and soon took off for Rosebud Lane.  This was on April 9, 2007
Today we received photos from Paula and Patrick Morgan taken April 15 in their neighbor's yard on North Piney Road not far from the Deli.

As you will see this little Bullwinkle has lost his camera shyness!

By the way, this picture shows how even I can tell that this is indeed a BULL moose!

Obviously, though, posing for the local paparazzi is a very tiring thing.

Spotting moose in Story is not an unusual occurrence.  But at the end of a long winter even small diversions are welcome.  We know many people were out driving around over the weekend just to see where this guy was then.  We've always said that to live most happily in Story you need to know how to amuse yourself.  Watching the wildlife is always on top of the treat list!
